Followers – who’s using that?

Followers – I see it on my dashboard but I don’t get it.
I use Google Reader to *follow* my favorite blogs. I’ve been meaning to ask, are the rest of you using the Followers feature? If so, for what?

Books I’m reading

I noticed that on mine too. I also use google reader to keep up with blogs
Hi,
I use the blogger dashboard to keep up with all the blogs I read. After I put it the blog’s address it asks if I want to follow the blog publicly or anonymously. If you answer public, then your pic shows up under ‘followers’ on the blog. You can follow the blog w/o the blogger knowing by choosing the anonymous option. Hope that’s what you were wondering
I use it to let the blogger know who and what I like to read, and it is nice to know who follows what. Happy Thanksgiving, Amy
I use google reader too. I don’t do the follow thing nor do I do RSS (or whatever it’s called).
Happy Thanksgiving.
I tried the “follower” feature (anonymously) but then quit. I prefer (and have used, for quite a while) Bloglines.
I use the reader and follower. For the blogs I always read, I am a follower. I thought it was a way of showing that I am a fan of the blog and it serves as a list for others of what I read. It keeps me from having a huge list of blog links on my blog, too, but people can still see what I like.
Yes, I do both, for a couple of reasons. One, to let the blogger know I read regularly, even if I don’t always comment, and two, because the work computer is configured so that I can’t view Reader, and it’s easy to follow new postings from the dashboard.
I never used any reader before but I started doing the Following thing. It automatically puts them into Google Reader for you. I still have the others that I only check once in awhile in MY Favorites in Explorer.
I don’t know how to use a reader, had to ask my daughter what it was….I just save all the blogs I like to read in my favorites and surf from there. Someday I will learn how all this computer stuff works.

I use google reader and I can’t find a follower thing
I don’t know what you mean
:(
I don’t use the followers thing either…when I tried it I crashed my machine as I have far too many to add!

Found this post through google. I am deeply uncomfortable with the followers feature, the part of it that involves putting up photos for one thing (seems like a popularity contest), the word “followers” for another – I always comment on a blog that interests me because I am after dialogue. It does make blogger more like a social networking place, ie more general, it seems to me. I know I am overreacting though.
