Yes, I am working

I’ve been setting up a new computer for Keith and in spite of some challenges with my home network, I managed to get back into the sewing room this afternoon.

This top was pieced by Sue and her group in CA – I love the combination of the blue and red centered HeartStrings blocks. DSCN7775

It’s quilted with my freehand Baptist Fans.

I’ve got another top trimmed and the binding made to stitch on tomorrow. Do you think this stack of trimmings is one reason my string bins refuse to go down no matter how many blocks I make? The batting bits will be tossed but all the rest will go into the bins….eventually.

  • Love the quilt! This is exactly how I do it too, toss the batting the the trimmings go into the strings.

I have been so unmotivated for a couple of months. I haven’t even been in my sewing room except to maybe press a blouse. lol How in the world do you stay so motivated?

Mary, I bet Chesty was thrilled to see you both! I really love that free motion Baptist Fan on the latest quilt. I can’t wait to try it as soon as I get my new long arm. You are such an inspiration to us all. Thank you for everything you so generously share with us— I’m cutting my muslin diamonds and I have a oddles of strings to make the Diamond String quilt. I’m headed to a quilting retreat next weekend—it will be one of my projects. Yep, no point in keeping those batting strips! But, I do see some good strings laying there under the ironing board! Sue and her group’s String quilt is so pretty!

  • The latest quilt’s great, but your quilting definitely adds something. As to the strings, I reckon they come out at night when you’re not looking, and then they pull out your stash, and cut some more for you!
