I like handsewing bindings down. I love the idea of the tied quilts for a nice quick finish!

Mary I think you can probably do some of these in your sleep you've done so many charity quilts. But you know they always look so fabulous.
I like your new blog settings too.
what a compliment to see your work copied heh?

Both quilts look great! I often use the zig-zag setting because it works with uneven numbers of rows. Have fun with your blocks :)

I agree about bindings. My least favorite part (and that's putting it mildly)is machine sewing the binding on. I have the table extension and all but it still feels like a wrestling match, can't imagine doing it twice even if I can use a cool decorative stitch. I like look over the back of my quilt and really look at the quilting I've done while I'm hand sewing the binding down.
The diamond layout is my pick too. Once I made a log cabin quilt and arranged in the zig-zag layout, just for something other that the "usual". After it was done and on my bed, I was sorry and it was too late-live and learn.

I prefer the diamond setting to the zig zag, too, but keeping it interesting is a high priority. We vary our center strip colors and do thematic ones sometimes just for that reason. And there are probably people out there who prefer the zig zag!
