Some piecing, quilting, and urine collection

We thought Chesty might have a urinary tract infection so I collected a urine specimen this morning to carry to the vet — not as complicated as I thought it would be using a disposable pie tin to collect and a small Tupperware container to transport. Unfortunately, in additional to a probable UTI he also has some crystals in his urine which are indicative of stones so he’ll go in tomorrow for an x-ray.

And still I managed to get some work done. The teal HeartStrings top is finished.

And this small top pieced by Cecile is quilted.

The quilting is hard to see but it’s a pantograph by Norma Sharp called Leap Frogs and you can probably see it better in this shot of the back.

  • He probably picked up something when you took him for that haircut! Just kidding – I hope they can get him better soon!

I really like the texture of that panto. I’ll have to get that one for Mom.

  • Oh I hope the pupper feels better soon!

and I love the quilt! If I ever have enough scraps I might attempt one… or I may just have to sacrifice a couple honey buns!

  • KimP:

Poor pup. It breaks my heart when they can’t tell us what’s wrong. But, how in the world did you know what the problem was?

  • Aw, poor Chesty! I hope he feels better quickly!

  • Oooh, sorry to hear about poor Chesty’s troubles. Being a Dalmatian owner, crystals, sludge and stones are common place. We’re used to dealing with that with Dalmatians — it is heartbreaking to watch them suffer though. Hugs to Chesty.

  • Cecile:

Yeah! I am glad you got to my quilt! I hope it makes some little one warm and happy! :) Glad Chesty has a great mom like you looking after him! Cecile

  • Ha! Your post title made me laugh. The quilts look great. Thanks for sharing the close-up; I’ve always seen just enough of that pantograph to not be able to figure it out!

  • I am so sorry to hear about Chesty’s crystals. I hope they can give him medicine to correct.

BEAUTIFUL QUILTS – Always come to your blog first every day and love the eye candy. Chesty is eye candy too. He’s so cute.

Hope Chesty is on the mend soon. Our Kees used to get UTIs whenever we’d leave her at a kennel. You might check w/ your kennel and see if there is something going around there. Hard to see them suffer so.

  • Kathy Wagner:

Oh dear poor Chesty! He looks so snuggly there with that quilt. I hope he feels better soon.

  • debra:

Chesty looks so sad. Is he feeling any better today?

  • Poor Chesty – hope he is feeling better soon. He looks so pathetic in that picture. Ben and I both send him big hugs and get well soon wishes.
