I bind the same way, but only from left to right…I am leftie. Love the black strips on the String Quilt. Happy Thanksgiving!

I bind exactly the same way Mary. Can’t imagine how else anyone could do it, using that blind stitch. So happy that Chesty is back home again and on the mend. It’s so hard when our little ones have owies! Happy Turkey day, Hugs, Finn

That is just how I do it and I consider myself a binding snob. I also use straw needles.

That’s exactly how I do the binding as well and I, like you, also feel like it looks so backwards when I see someone do it the other way! LOL

I’m going to have to make a string quilt… That diamond strings is really pretty!!!

I do my binding pretty much the same way. The best way was when Gramma was still with us. I’d take it over to her one day and she would call me the next to let me know it was done… Her hand work was beautiful!!!

Isn’t it funny how we all do things differently. I hold mine the same way as you Mom and Deb.

I noticed when I was playing cards the other day that I hold the cards in my hand from lowest to highest in each suit. Everyone else at the table told me that was backwards – they all do it the other way.

Hope Chesty is improving and will be back to normal soon.

And here I thought I was the only one who used straw needles when doing binding. I haven’t ever run in to anyone else who used them for bindings….I actually thought most people would think it was odd that I used them for that purpose. You always hear about the smaller quilting needles and applique needles but the wonderful straw needle doesn’t seem to get much attention. I’m happy to see I’m not the lone ranger now! I do it exactly the same way, also with a straw needle because I find them sturdier and less likely to snap on me.

Thanks for the photos, they’re a great help. I think my problem was that I was trying to make my stitches completely invisible and it was taking FOREVER. The point seems to be, to catch a couple of threads from the binding on your needle so the stitch will in fact show a little but very little. Thanks again for the help.
