It’s still Tuesday and finish #7
I’ve been fighting the clock all day but I’m always busy the day before a trip.
It’s Tuesday so I’m supposed to piece a quilt back and work on string blocks – I pieced a back for another donation top and made 4 Quilt as you Go blocks. I would have made more but I really wanted to get this last quilt waiting for binding done.
Pieced by San and her quilting group in NC, it will go to Alycia as a QOV.
The white in the binding kind of jumps out in the photo but not so much in person.
Quilted with one of my favorite designs – a swirling version of Dwirling from the Pajama Quilter DVD.
Now when I get home from my trip I can jump right back into quilting since I’ve finished all the ones waiting for binding.

Here’s a link to an interesting 9-patch placement from Evelyn aka Starfishy:

I had to look closely and read her description to see they actually WERE 9-patches and not 16-patches as I’d originally assumed. Different!
Another great quilt, and congratulations on getting all those bindings finished. It’s snowing here again today, I think I’ll have to get the machine out
).
I love that binding! I am very lazy about cutting bias binding but this one makes me want to re-think that bit of laziness.
I love the stripped binding~ At first glance I thought it had a thread wrapped binding, but love the way you did this! I also like the simple quilt pattern but makes a striking over all look. Nice job~
I agree with the others — love the binding. My favorite binding is stripes. I have a huge collection of stripes just for bindings. I have enjoyed visiting your site (including the archives) — you are a great inspiration.
I really really like the binding!!
Have a great time on your trip my friend!!

You are just blazing through the finishes this year! Way to go!
Oh my – a ‘simple’ quilt, but that binding brings it to ‘wonderful’! Stripes always make great bindings. Great use of your scrappy pieces.
Oh crud, I’m not awake yet! That comment above is from Elaine Adair!
Love that biding “effect”. The white against the blue (in the stripe) almost makes it look like it was hand done … a Blanket Stitch effect. Nice touch! Enjoy your trip and the beach!
Way to go Mary!!!!!
I love the binding on this quilt, maybe I can find a soft fabric stripe to go on my grandmother flower garden, it sure would make the the quilt jump. :0
Every time you show one of these on-point dark-light-dark rail fence quilts I say I’ve got to make one…some day I actually will!
I love the striped binding!
What a fantastic job Mary. That binding really pulls the whole quilt together. Thank you so much for all of your hard work.
Love the binding! It has the look of Whipped-Stitching. I will keep an eye open for those types of fabrics from now on. Very nice dwirling too! I’ve been practicing on my scribble quilt. Can’t wait to try it out on a Martha Quilt.
This is a lovely quilt. I love the binding, and the swirly quilting looks amazing. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I love the striped binding!
Wow. That is a lovely quilt! I’m going to save the picture in case I want to make one of these someday and you know I love the binding on this! I never realized how striking stripes would be on binding. Do you make all your binding on the bias?
