Sox Pox has struck again! I was given a pair of handmade socks and I love them, but not enough to learn how to make them. Most the time I feel like I'm swimming upstream as it is!

My daughter is teaching herself to knit. When she told me I was so surprised and excited for her. I tried knitting years ago but lost interest. Who knows maybe some day. I am piecing string blocks. A group I meet with showed me how to use a Bounty paper towel for the foundation. They tell me you can leave the towel and quilt. They asked-Have you ever washed a paper towel by mistake? And yes, I have. It doesn't disenegrate. I will let you.

I am trying the two at a time method. I am having difficulty keeping track of everything. I have knitted socks one at a time and all went well but this 40" cable and two skeins of yard is getting the best of me. My book is "2 At A Time Socks" by Melissa Morgan-Oaks.

I have three QAYG blocks going right now.

Love your blog, thanks

I have wanted to try to knit socks ever since I saw Judy L's fab socks, but I knit with the right needle under my arm and there is no way to use circular needles or those short double ended needles. I guess I'll just have to wait for you or Judy to make me a pair.
LOL.

Wonderful sox! I too, tried the 'two-at-a-time" from the toe thing, but since I am a novice to sock knitting I went back to the "magic loop" method starting at the cuff. I had trouble with the tangling also, and figured that until I get this going smoothly I had no business trying to do 2 at one time!! LOL! I'm about 3/4s done with my first sock, and I am addicted to knitting already. It is a really fun and easy take-along project.

Keep us posted on your progress!

I just started knitting a couple of yrs ago. I have now adapted to making 2 at a time socks on 40" circular adia needles starting at the cuff . I don't like making from toe up. I have made about a dozen pr so far. I'm a quilter but like knitting while watching TV.

I've knitted two socks at once on two circular needles in the toe-up fashion. But I found it was hard to keep the yarn from tangling. Now I'm still using the two circular needles, but it's a lot easier for me to do one at a time. It's still better than dealing with four double pointed needles!

Congratulations on the progress you are making on your socks; however, unless you have very strange feet, you are NOT knitting them from the toe up. ;oD

I didn't realize that you wanted to knit two socks at the same time. Were you thinking of using the Magic Loop method? If so, you will a needle with a longer cable. I recommend the Knit Picks needles for anyone who wants to make socks because the cable are so flexible. I have a set of the interchangeable needles and many of the fixed circulars, too, but my needles are not the wooden ones like yours.

Enjoy your knitting and keep us in the "loop."
