I had a feeling I wouldn’t last all week
Yep, I started a new pair of socks this evening and was brave enough to try knitting two socks at once. I’m finding it much easier than expected and not having problems with my two skeins tangling up which is something several peopled mentioned they’d had problems with.

Today was kind of a lost day between running errands and knitting but I’ve got the tax stuff ready to drop off Monday and one of the two wedding quilts finished so I’m on schedule.
It feels like spring around here with temps in the 30′s and 40′s but here’s one not so pretty sign of spring – large DIRTY piles of melting snow.

Love the socks, two at once, well done.
Snow is not nice like this, quicker it melts the better.
Wow, you have been a busy girl! Two socks at once would have my head spinning. But then again I’m not a knitter. LOL I love your quilt in your post below.
You have been bit by the sock knitting bug! I use 2 ziploc bags taped together, back-to-back, & put a skein in each bag, then rotate the bag clockwise as I knit from sock to sock. Works well for me to keep yarn from tangling. You might want to join the socknitters yahoo group. I recently did. you can pickup ideas/info from others there.
I also love the quilt in your prev. post.
Mary, you’re putting me to shame. I’ve been working on the same sock for a month. I also knit on circular needles. I tried two at a time, and I didn’t like it. I may try again and pay more attention to how I rotate my work. I spent more time untangling than knitting! Thanks for the inspiration.
We have piles of dirty snow all around here too. I keep looking at it and then telling myself it is a sign….that Spring is right around the corner….then I cross my fingers and turn around once while chanting “PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE UNIVERSE LET SPRING BE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!!!!”
hugs my friend!!
dawn
30′s and 40′s feel like spring? You’ve been away from Georgia too long!
I bought that same yarn from Suzanne’s sale. Love it.
The temperature thing is all relative, isn’t it. It is 50 here and most of the snow in my yard has melted. That’s spring in Wyoming.
The one thing I hate is when all the stuff they sanded the streets with is now just dust and it takes way to long for them to get the streets swept.
Great tip to putt the skiens in bags. If I ever get brave enough to try two at a time, that is.
Good for you doing those two socks at once. I’m one of the ones who had trouble with my yarns tangling and went back to DPN’s. If ever I’d stick with it long enough to master it, I think it would be my favorite technique. Maybe I’ll try again.
Ugh . . the dirty snow. Guess it’s something you have to see in order to experience spring!
Love the new socks yarn … the suggestion of putting the skeins in baggies and rotating them as you knit is a pretty good idea … may have to give that a try. Snow is melting pretty good here in Pittsburgh area and it’s hard to believe we change the clocks back in a week … sure sign Spring is almost upon us! Easter is early this year but who is complaining!! Bring it on!!!
Fresh snow is so pretty… but the dirty melting old snow… yuck!
We have lots of dirty snow here in Iowa also. It is a sign of spring and makes me so very hopeful that warmer weather is on the way. Love the socks. They look so warm and comfy.
Love the yarn! You do great with your socks. How long have you been knitting? How is your Wii exercises coming along? I’ve slacked off some on walking on the treadmill. Last time I must have over did it because my knee has been bothering me, so… maybe tomorrow, ha. Keep up the good work. I love your blog.
Hi Mary. I havent tried this way of knitting yet, will have to give it a try some day. I gave a speech at mye guilt last week, and mentioned your blog (actually I gave them a link to it) so if you suddenly get a lot of readers from Norway that’s why.
I hate the big piles of dirty melting snow too…very ugly! But it does mean that spring is coming soon!
Hi Mary:
How many circulars are you using? What book did you use to learn 2-at-a-time? Or what website did you use? I bought a book for 2-at-a-time but am having a problem with the “magic loop”. May be my needles are not long enough. Any suggestions?
