This one is difficult to give away

I don’t often have a problem giving my quilts as gifts or even donating them to strangers but every once in a while I fall in love with one. I’m beginning to think that pink and brown are my colors because the last quilt I struggled to give away was pink and brown too.

And a little closer. To bring this up to the size I wanted, I put a pieced border around all 4 sides and then added a solid border to the sides – I didn’t need any more length.

I rarely do printed labels for personal quilts unless it’s one that Mom and I are gifting together but I did embroider my initials, the year, and a heart that signifies my love for Adam or it could signify their love for each other since it’s a wedding quilt.

Stars & Pinwheels Instructions

The instruction sheet does not include the borders which were an afterthought but there are two EQ drawings on the page with 2 ideas I worked up. In the end, I chose the border version that Adam liked best.

Oh, Mary, this quilt is simply gorgeous! I love the controlled scrappiness of it, and the pinks and browns are perfect.

I would have a very hard time parting with this one. I kind of think you are having a hard time parting with your son as well 😉 The quilt and your gesture are beautiful.

It is beautiful. I know I wouldn’t be able to give it away. Alright, I would but with difficulty. I like Alison’s idea of visiting rights. I love pink and brown.

It’s gorgeous Mary. I’m in the middle of making that quilt but in green and pink and I just hope that it looks as beautiful as yours!

Your pieced border really finishes the quilt beautifully. Nice job and what a wonderful wedding gift!

No wonder you love it….it really is beautiful!
I find it difficult to give most of my quilts away, so I totally understand that! But when it goes to family members you can visit it occasionally and that makes it a little easier.

I can understand why, it’s a fabulous quilt! Maybe you should make your own pink and brown quilt? I have a question, when you traded your table in for a smaller one, was it expensive to do? Did you get a new machine at the same time? I want to downsize my table from a 14′ to a 10′. I spoke to my local rep who is going to check with the regional Gammil rep to see if it can be done. Any information you could share would be appreciated! Thanks!

I can see why you’re having a conflict … it’s BEAUTIFUL!! What a lovely, thoughtful, generous gift … what a loving mother you are. Best wishes to the happy couple!

Hopefully they will give you frequent visitation rights! It is a really beautiful quilt. Now you can make one for yourself. Do you want more pink fabric?

It looks beautiful! Mary. Yes, some quilts are just difficult to part with. Maybe you will do another one, or something similar for yourself someday. Looking forward to hearing all about the wedding, and lots of pictures!

I frequently find myself debating gifting quilts but have made myself do it anyway. I think that is why I take so many pictures of the quilts, that way I still have them even though they are living somewhere else. I try to keep them rotating on my electronic picture frame. 😉

This is gorgeous and I can understand how you’re reluctant to give it away. But, at least it is for your son (and wife to be) and you will hopefully get a chance to visit the quilt in the future!!!! Love how you’ve done the label 🙂

Mary, it is beautiful! Pink and brown are perhaps one of my all-time favorite combo’s. At least you have some photos.

Beautiful quilt, Mary, and I know there is a lot of love in it. You did a great job. It looks like that would have taken a long time to piece. It’s not surprising that it is hard for you to let it go.

This quilt is just lovely Mary, so I can really understand your trouble giving it away. But won’t it be in the family or have I misunderstood anything?
