Framed Rectangles is a completed top

Where is the sun? It seems like it’s been cool and rainy for weeks and I’m ready for some warm sunny days.

In spite of wanting to curl up with my book today, I forced myself to assemble the Framed Rectangles. Susan showed me her batik version yesterday at lunch and I can’t wait to share a photo of it when she’s finished it. It’s amazing how different quilts from the same pattern can look.

After seeing Susan’s circle quilt and Wendi’s liberated top yesterday, I’m tempted to start something else new but I’m going to be good and do some quilting the rest of the week — maybe even some binding. But first, I deserve and hour or two with my book don’t you think?

I love that quilt and Chesty looks so good sitting there with it. He always puts a smile on my face. Can’t wait to see the pictures of the batik one too. Keep sewing. Diane in Alaska

  • Mary, your top turned out beautiful…love the colors too. And your quilt model is so cute! Have fun reading your book.

  • I really like this quilt. You are tempting me to look through my stash and get one started.

Chesty seems really proud of the quilt that he supervised.

  • Diane:

love the quilt top and mr Chesty!
I’ve about had it with the rainy weather too! No sun here until saturday, gag!

Pretty quilt. I always like the brown/pink combination. Tell Chesty he looks quite handsome sitting in front of it.

  • That quilt is SO pretty (and so is Chesty even if he IS a he! HA). May hafta put that one on my must do list. OH NO! I actually heard the general’s name mentioned today, the one Chesty’s named after.

  • I love this! I love it so much I’m thinking about doing a sort of quilt-a-long with some of my gal pals with this. I think it’s this or one similar. Of course mine wont be nearly as snazzy since I don’t have cute Chesty.

    …but it’ll be Orange and I dig orange. :)

    Very nicely done, Gma!

  • He’s so cute! I wish you could bring him to class to be our mascot! Oh, nice quilt too!

  • Yes, I knew it was going to be beautiful. Just love your colours. I think you deserve a couple of hours with your book. You have my permission to sit back and take it easy.

The weather here is red hot over 31 degrees yesterday. Too hot to do much, so I sat and finished off my hexie quilt top. yessssssssssss. Today I am taking out the papers, there are loads to unpick so it will keep me quiet for a little while.

  • It is a fantastic looking quilt, and so is Chesty. Would he like to move to England?

I hope you enjoyed your book?

  • Tanya:

Oh, I love the Rectangle quilt! I can imagine how pretty it will be in batiks too. Looking forward to seeing that one!

  • Alison:

Love the quilt, and Chesty completes a perfect picture. You definitely deserve a couple of hours with your book. Unfortunately book reading wins out 9 times out of 10 with me, so I don’t get anywhere near as much sewing done as I should :o )

  • That looks fabulous, Mary! Yes indeed, you deserve it! I hope you found some book time and Chesty-snuggling time!

  • The quilt looks great- I bet you felt good when it was done! Chesty looks so handsome sitting there!

  • I’ve printed off the pattern for this and plan to try it after finishing up two graduation quilts. It’ll be great for using up some fat quarters…I sure hope mine turns out as great as yours did!

  • wendiq:

You know, you can download books from the Library for free onto an Ipod or MP3 player and listen while you sew…..sure works for me.

And, BTW, I’d like to order one of those lovely quilts with a Chesty on it, Please!….:)
