My EQ7 upgrade arrived today
Not much piecing going on with the Drunkard’s Path blocks and today was supposed to be devoted to Strings since it’s Tuesday AND we have a new HeartStrings project but with EQ7 arriving everything else was set aside.
After looking around the program a bit, I decided to play with drafting a quilt I plan to make in blues. I bought a fabric kit just for the indigo and shirting fabrics and had in my mind that I would make a BLUE version of my Red Rover quilt.
Edit: Although only version 2 shows scrappy fabrics — whichever design I choose will be made in a variety of blues and a variety of background fabrics – I often just use a single fabric when designing because it’s so much quicker!
After playing a little more I came up with another couple possibilities.
Version 2
Version 3 (All three of these can be cut with my GO die – using the 4 inch half square triangle and the 2.5 inch strip die).
And just because EQ has that crazy Serendipity option, Version 4. You might not think this version is possible but after my class with Paula Nadelstern, I feel comfortable enough with templates that I could….I won’t, but I could!
After all of that, I’m still leaning toward the first version but it will be a while before I can even think about starting this one!
I like 1 and 2 but I want you to make #4!
Those are all great! My scrappy eye goes right to version 2 though.
If you were going to sew up version 2 or 3, would you make the half square triangles or would you make square in a square with flying geese for the outer edges? With 4,8and 16 patches?
And wouldn’t that Serendipity block make a great pillow top?
We are expecting more rain for the next 2 days so I will get to play with my EQ7. So far, I’ve just looked through the book.

I kind of like the second version. I would think it would lend itself to “scrappiness”. Unless, of course, two colors is what you’re going for.
I’m a little jealous. Mine is on it’s way but hasn’t arrived yet. I can hardly wait. Great job on all three quilts.
Oh, the second one just called out to me. I have a stash of blues and various creams that would be perfect for that one. Need to check out EQ7 … I have EQ6 at home that I haven’t even LOADED! LOL My quilting time has been minimal of late ;-(
I like ALL of the versions! So, what do you think of EQ7?
I absolutely love version 2. I love version 4 as well but I’d be much more likely to make version 2.
I like them all, but I think your crazy version looks way more fun to sew!
I’m the odd one, but I like three. It WAVES to me.
I didn’t realize how popular my taste is, but I must admit I really like version 2.
I like version 2.
I really like #1 and #2. I think #2 is my favorite, but only because it has more color in it. I can envision that made up in many, many scraps.
