Kind of an ugly duck
I know it’s overly scrappy but I like it. I worked at this on and off all day (Thursday) and into the night in 15 & 30 minute segments until it was assembled. Really, assembling tops has to be one of my least favorite parts of quilting but the rules around here keep me in line – tops need to be completed before I move on (in most cases).
Obviously this one is too big for the design wall but its the best photo I’m going to get at 2AM.

Gosh, I don’t think it’s either ugly or overly scrappy. I love it.
I love scrappy and I would say 90% of my work is scrappy. This piece is lovely and the plaids give a continuity and planned look. I like it without borders. Curves are not my favorite thing to sew, but I love the look of them. I too use the 15 minute technique to get work done. I always leave my workspace set-up to do the next 15 minutes of work.
Very nice! I have been drawn to the homespun plaids lately.
It’s not ugly or overly scrappy. I love it!!!
Beautiful!
Oh Mary, I think it’s fabulous!!! I love to sew everyday and sometimes little bits of time are all I can squeeze in. It amazes me how much can get done.
I love it, not an ugly duck at all!!!
Great quilt for men with all the plaids. Nice job.
Mary – it looks great! Very homespun! Assembling tops is not my favorite either – including borders, I have to push myself through. I’d rather do binding! (Actually, I really like to do the binding o:)
Tisn’t ugly at all…it’s just very masculine especially to a
“girly” girl. Looks great to me.
Quilting at 2am…now there’s a woman who really wants to finish a project!
The finished quilt is great – I do like the border on it.
What’s next?
I really like this quilt. I think it turned out great!
I love scrappy quilts of any kind!
I like the scrappy look, think it turned out rather nicely.
very nice!
I really like the Drunkard’s Path pattern and how it looks so different – especially with these fabric choices. Nice. I can’t wait to see the quilting pattern you select.
I don’t think it is an ugly duck at all. I like the use of so many plaids.
How could you call that ugly? It’s beautiful, I love it.
I think it’s very rich and masculine looking! Way to go!
oh it is not UGLY! I love it…maybe it needs an applique border to make you happier…
just a suggestion! or a great folk art looking print fabric…

When you like scrappy I think it’s hard to be ‘overly scrappy’!! This has a lovely warm feeling from the plaids and looks great
This quilt has the masculine feel that those type of fabrics bring! It’ll be appreciated and used I’m sure.
