Baptist Fan quilting
This HeartStrings top was pieced by Sue in FL and quilted with my freehand Baptist Fans. They’re a bit wonkier than usual – I must be out of practice. Luckily they add great texture to string quilts and the wonkiness doesn’t seem to matter.
I like wonky for some things, and they really work well with these quilts. Texture is the most important part. Keep sharing!

I love the soft pastel colors of this string quilt. I don’t see any wonky Baptist Fans. All look great! Question: I would like to see a picture of the first row and where you start the fans and start doing the arcs. I’ve tried these free motion, and mine are really wonky! I think it would help to see the first row edge, and maybe even the second row of fans—It’s a wonderful quilting design and you do it so well Mary. Thank you for sharing all you that you do—

I just love this. I am going to try the freehand Baptist fans as soon as this reunion I am doing is over and this will be my last year doing this so I will have lots of time to practice. This quilt is just so so beautiful. Thank you for sharing I love all these ideas. You do beautiful work.
