I’m beginning to understand the fascination

We’ve been watching the birds this evening …. the babies sleep and then when Mom flys back with food there’s a lot of chatter. By the way, there are 3 birds not two, the 3rd one is in a smaller nest below the others. I’ve never seen a 2 story nest before!

Can you see the third bird on the left?

Aren’t they nesting kinda late in the year, or is that normal for MN?

Interesting. I thought they always prepared the next and then laid the eggs. I am not sure what to think …

    Thanks for the pics!

    As if I can spell! N E S T … good grief …

  • Wow, how cool whatever they have going on.

  • How sweet! We enjoyed peering in on the little cardinals in the nest in the bush in front of our house. They’ve grown up and flown away now, but it was fascinating to watch the whole process! Seems we have a nest in that bush every year. It’s neat!

  • Ha…a robin condo! It’s only natural in this day and age, don’t you think?! ;-)

Happy weekend and happy bird watching, Mary!

  • Wow Mary! That’s very interesting. I showed my hubby and his first response was … “How did she incubate both nests”?
    Did ‘daddy’ help?

Thats so awesome Mary!! I alway love looking at things like this !!! Good shots too!!

  • So fascinating! Until you can see things like this, they seem incredible.

That is fascinating. I’ve never heard of a two story nest either. I wonder why the egg was laid apart from the others. Or what the psychological benefits are of being raised as an only bird. Or if maybe they play musical nests at night…
