This top is finally done
Am I the only one that has those projects that seem to drag on forever? I’m not sure why this HeartStrings top turned into one of those because usually these blocks are fairly mindless and quick to sew but I definitely dragged my feet here. Of course, it still needs quilting but the top is done!
That odd little glow at the bottom is just the way the light is coming in through the window – for some reason it’s making the blue fabrics (that are in all areas of the quilt) show lighter than they actually are in that one corner.

Love how this one came out.
I’m having a hard time focusing on quilting projects this summer. Not sure what’s causing it but hopefully, it’ll end soon. I’ve been working on the same quilt top for about 3 weeks now and just can’t make myself sew the blocks together. It’s make from old, old, old fabric and in the blues/pinks from the 80s…yah, those. I think it makes me feel old because I remember how popular those colors were!
BTW: I do like this quilt…scrappy and happy.
I think every project of mine turns into one of those. It must be part of my process. That’s why I have to have several going at once – I tend to be a “flitter”.
Ooo! I like this one, too! And my question as always, is how are you going to quilt it?
I just love this one. Those plaids in it just look so warm, snuggly and inviting!
Are you sure that I can’t have that quilt!! I love it!!
I am laughing with you or maybe at you. It never seems to take you long to complete any project. Based on your ability to produce quickly it might seem like this one took forever, but you did take a little time to have a grandbaby visit and vacation. With Fall just around the corner, I am sure you will re-energize. lol
Love this string quilt! It has a warm glow about it.
You’re definitely not the only one who lets projects drag on forever. Love the colors in this one.
Well you have had a grandson and a holiday to distract you recently.
Ohh la la! Right up my alley!
Loving this one, Mary … makes me “itch” to get into my plaid stash. I have to confess though that plaids intimidate me somewhat … I sew scrappy all the time and really don’t have trouble putting colors and patterns next to each other … but pull out the plaids and this girl comes to a screeching halt. I think it’s all in my head! LOL
I have many many many projects that drag on
I’m fascinated by that photo of your project…and how the blue looks so different in the corner.
Very nice indeed.
Mary, I am going to try one of these homespun string quilts. The primary project is going to be a snowball block, but as I’m cutting the squares for that quilt, I’m going to be cutting strips for the string quilt too. Thanks for sharing, you are a great inspiration.
