A change in plans

I’d planned to quilt today but it was snowing! So the morning was spent piecing blocks for the Churn Dash and Stars quilt while I watched the snow out my window. (I don’t know why it took me so long to move my sewing table in front of the window, I love it here).

After that a few hours of that, a walk in the snow to lunch and the coffee shop. This top is coming together much quicker than expected so I’ve been thinking about the next one I’m going to piece which is the Carpenter Star I drafted the other day. I did work up brief instructions for my version and posted them.

Thank you for the instructions Mary. I will try to downsize for a wallhanging instead of trying to find a pattern. Still cutting out my son’s log cabin – 16 of the 20 dark FQs cut out then there are 17 light FQs to do. It is time consuming, but, I think I am a slow worker. This pattern will look beautiful made up, especially in Kansas Troubles which I am loving at the moment.

  • Don’t blame you one bit for enjoying the snow… I love it too!

The light from a window + a view = great sewing experience!

Thank you for the Carpenter’s Star directions! Yet ANOTHER one of your patterns that I am determined to make. I spent part of Sunday playing around with a friend’s Queen Quilter 18 (sit-down table-top version)…..would like to get a big-girl quilting machine for after I retire but I’m undecided as to make and model, etc.

I have done the carpenter star a couple of times (current dining room table cover is one) and love them. I really like your version. Might have to be on my list of things to do.

  • You will be done with this quilt in no time at all and on to the next one!

WOW – same view we had last week and possibly again tonight into tomorrow! Love Texas weather! Take care – Jenn
