Some RWB blocks

In honor of the Memorial Day holiday, I put away the 9 patch blocks and started a set of blocks for a RWB HeartStrings quilt that will eventually go to a veteran or wounded soldier.

I’m approaching a BIG birthday in a couple days — I was feeling a little down but with a Spa day planned and my son Chris coming in for a visit to help me celebrate – I’m not feeling too bad now and I’m looking forward to Thursday.

Keith and I also went on another bike ride today – it was hotter and very windy but we did 14.3 miles and we got a lot of exercise! My hope in the next 2-3 months is to increase my exercise level and drop a few pounds — they seem to creep up on me.

Good for you with that 14.3 mile ride, in the humidity/heat and the wind that we had here in the Twin Cities yesterday. Last year I celebrated the same “big” birthday that you will be celebrating. I celebrated by getting my long arm. I hope you have a great one. Remember its only a number. Its what you feel inside. I think that Spa day you have planned and a visit from your son will be a fabulous way to bring in that new year. Enjoy!

Good morning, Mary! You’re only as old as you feel and I’d think if you feel good after riding your bike for 14+ miles in the heat and wind, you’re doing well! Happy birthday to you.

I love your patriotic string blocks! A veteran or wounded soldier is sure to treasure it!

    Have a great day!

Another beautiful quilt for a Vet to treasure! And don’t worry about the birthdays; we’re a lot younger at our age than our parents were (at least that’s what I tell myself!).

Congratulations on getting this old… I’m always happy to be getting older. You see the alternative is not such a happy event. So be happy and proud.
And you are making a beautiful quilt for someone who deserves all we can give. (I’m not sure what RWB is, but since you mentioned Memorial Day, I figured it was for a Vet. Good girl! Good job… it is looking good so far!

those big birthdays are hard (my last made me closer to 60 than 50, yikes) but I just tell myself that I have had a couple of friends that didn’t live to this age so each year is a blessing.

I turned 57 yesterday (31st May) and wonder where the years have gone, but, I don’t feel much older than I did at 40. Like Kathie, I know of ones that did not make it this far.

My daughter, her husband and our four grandchildren arrived from another state here in Australia and it has been wonderful. Three weeks visit will be bliss, but busy as there are five of us at home and with them makes eleven!

    Enjoy you birthday!
