The Pineapple top is quilted

I still need to do the binding but I love how the quilting turned out.

I’m happy with the look of the quilting close – up and the texture created across the entire quilt. If you didn’t see it in my last post, the pantograph is Feathered Leaf from Willow Leaf Studio. They have a larger version but I have limited throat space so mine is the smaller size.

Another beautiful quilt, Mary. I was surprised when you chose to use the Feathered Leaf but very glad you explained why. It’s always a struggle for me to decide how to quilt a top. Valuable lesson learned. Thank you.

  • Turned out great! Thread color, pineapple quilt pattern and feathered leaf quilting pattern. Beautiful quilt, great job, Mary.

  • Perfect how the feathers swirl around the pineapple blocks!

  • Debbie:

    It is beautiful, Mary.

  • Lori in Tucson:

“Just shows ta go ya” when you’re right, you’re right. Love the way it came out. Your choice of thread was ‘right on!’. Whoever gets this quilt will love it.

  • You made a great choice because it turned out beautiful. Are you keeping this quilt for yourself or do you have other plans for it? This turned out so pretty it would be hard to give away unless you love the person it is going to.

  • Michelle:

It’s gorgeous! I love the quilting!

  • Kevin H:

I have been following your blog for quite some time now, and I just have to tell you how beautiful I think this pineapple quilt is turning out. Stunning!

  • Your quilt turned out great.

  • Good choice, I like the “Leaves” on the pineapple quilt. How big is your Throat space? You say you have limited?

  • Linda in TX:

It’s absolutely beautiful Mary and the quilting greatly enhances the piecing. I liked your explanation of why you picked this pattern and will use your advice in the future. It’s amazing how much I learn on blogs – yours in particular.

  • Cyndi Holguin:

Love it!!! Great idea you had there both in color of thread and design. Cool!!

  • Wonderful combination all the way around the quilt. Great job. Judy C

  • Karen:

Hi Mary……..This quilt is gorgeous and I LOVE it! The pattern, design and superb quilting are wonderful. Great job!

  • That looks beautiful. I have that panto but I think I’ve only used it once – I need to pull it out again and use it on one of my many tops lying around!

  • Mariel:

Great choice! I am going to have to get this panto and remember your reasoning with the thread colors. It looks great!

  • Kristy Wilkinson:

Very pretty quilt design and it only enhanced the pieced quilt. Not having a longarm machine, how do you do a pantograph? You have been so productive lately! Thanks for keeping us inspired! K-

  • Cindy in NC:

This quilt is so stunning, Mary. The darker fabrics and tea-stained looking lights give it an antique feel. The more formal looking quilting design is perfect. A pineapple quilt is on my “someday” list (along with a lot of other quilts!)

PS. Your security questions are getting tougher. Don’t go past 5th grade level math or you’ll loose me!

  • Ruth:

It looks wonderful. I love the quilting.

  • Sheila:

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your reasoning for choosing that quilting pattern; it made so much sense.

  • oh my gosh Mary!!! That turned out beautiful…stunning!!

  • Jean:

GREAT CHOICE on both the pattern and the thread color. This panto pattern is on my want/wish list. I enjoyed seeing it used on a quilt, and like it even better now. Jumping it to the top of my list. Love your blog.

  • Susan:

OK….I get to eat crow on this one. I thought the quilting design you used would be too heavy for the pineapple design but it looks TERRIFIC!! It’s a good thing you didn’t listen to my opinion on this one :o ) Great job Mary! I hope you’re keeping this one for yourself.

  • Denise Porter:

Gorgeous. Can’t wait to see the final shot after it is bound!

  • Wow, that is gorgeous! Thank you for always letting us know the pantographs you use. I’ve gotten several from seeing them on your quilts. We have the same machine, so if they work on yours, they will work on mine! Beautiful!

  • Thread choice and panto were perfect. Thanks for explaining why you chose both. Did not realize how much lighter space there was on that quilt. Now, you need to keep this one for sure.
I too am curious about your machine throat space. I want to order that panto myself but not sure about sizes for my HQ16. I have ordered two pantos you use, did not consider throat space, uh-oh. I can always photo shrink to fit I guess. Have to check on copy-right to do that I suppose. Sheesh, so much to learn with frame quilting.

I love the look of the quilting!
