A stormy afternoon has kept me from quilting as planned so far today – I don’t use the longarm during storms – but at least I’ve been able to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Keith probably hates that I use this railing in the kitchen as a staging area but I love seeing all the finished quilts lined up here today.

Ready to pack

I finished up the last of the string log cabin blocks after my volunteer shift at the library and both sets of blocks are ready to be packed up and placed in my GA bin along with the other piecing and knitting projects I plan on working on this summer.

I have one more UFO project to dig up and then I’ll gather yarn for several knitting projects. I definitely won’t run out of things to do in the 6 weeks I plan to be gone.

HeartStrings sew along

We’re having a sew along this holiday weekend so I finally got some strings sorted, foundations cut, and started piecing blocks.

My goal for the weekend is a set of 48 brown centered blocks and to finish up the set of string log cabin blocks I have in progress. I’m setting aside projects to take to GA this summer and both these block sets will be taken to be assembled there.

If you’d like to sew along, follow the link above for the details. As always, even a few blocks can be made according to the guidelines and sent in for group quilts.

This is another HeartStrings top from Cindy that I brought home from the last sew-in held in Roberts, WI. The light in my studio on this rainy day doesn’t do the colors justice so you’ll have to wait until it’s bound and I post a better photo to see how great this orange and brown HeartStrings quilt looks.

It’s quilted with the pantograph Seaweed.
