Quilting

I fought the urge to start a new quilt and am quilting this small HeartStrings top today.

What are you trying to finish up before the end of the year?!

Tomorrow is my last full day of work until January and I’m hoping to tackle a binding before the end of the year. And I have a blue flannel self-binding baby blanket to make yet this week for a baby gift. Merry Christmas!

I want to finish up a crocheted edging on a receiving blanket and the binding on a old snowball quilt for a friend of my sister’s.

I assembled a flimsy yesterday. I pulled another one out of the box and found backing fabric for it. I hope I can get it quilted by the end of the year. For many years I’ve had a power surge of creativity during Christmas week and it looks as though this season is no exception.

I got a wild idea to make quilts for all the grand kids for Christmas. They are all sewn together and the last one is being quilted today. Then I need to get the last 2 bound. But in addition to the 9 quilts for the grand kids – I did 3 for my best friends grand kids. Then I did one for my best friend. Then one for my daughter in law. I really should have started doing all of these quilts before October. I think I am doing really well only having 2 left to bind before Christmas. But at least for all of these quilts I used stash for all but a couple of fabrics. I also had to buy a roll of batting.
I wonder how many more I could have gotten done if I did not work full time. But do not ask me about my house!

I’ve just finished the binding on one quilt, made a matching pillowcase and have pieced a backing for another one that will go on the long arm later tonight. I’ve quilted 4 quilts within the week, so I’m on a roll.
