Out of steam

This week is heavy on the hand work … I just don’t have the energy to do much else so I’m embracing it and spending my time reading, knitting and big stitch hand quilting. One of my few accomplishments this week was to get 3 small quilts pin basted, the last one being the pinwheel and rails that I started quilting this afternoon. Did I mention how much I am loving this?!

Very cute quilt. The solids in the pinwheels just works perfectly with the prints in the strip blocks. I was glad to see that I’m not the only person who uses household items as circle templates.

I love the big stitch quilting! I have saved a couple of examples from quilting magazines and an article on how to do big stitch quilting. Now that I’ve seen your quilt, I really want to get started! Good backing fabrics!

I love your quilting. I’ve never tried to hand quilt. How big are the stitches when you big stitch quilt? Do you think I could big stitch quilt through two thicknesses of flannel if I used a thin batting? I have a wool applique quilt that I’m thinking about trying it on.

Molly, that is really cute! I am intrigued to see the combination of both tying and big stitch quilting!

I love the way your make circles. Me too! My cupboards are minus some dishes that have moved up to the sewing room. And your big stitch quilting looks just great with the playful pinwheels.
