Mistake!

So I’m away from my machine for a while but that doesn’t stop me from looking for new ideas for quilts. I’ve never made a Sister’s Choice quilt but one day I want to. I saw this one on eBay – two things jumped out at me – first the block with the error … (can you find it?) second, because the blocks are all one color they kind of run together which I don’t really like.

Here’s a link to a free Sister’s Choice pattern on the Fat Quarter Shop site which I like better but I don’t like to sash quilts (I’m lazy).

So here’s one of my options – no sashing and the blocks don’t run together! If I end up making this quilt, I’d use more than three fabrics and might use more than three colors too but it’s easier to design in a limited color scheme on the iPad.

I am making this as a sampler in CW repros, each block different fabrics. Love the block, they are fun to make. I will look forward to seeing your version.

Looking at the quilt I spotted two blocks with errors!

You are right about the blocks running together. I made a quilt with stars that didn’t really show too well, I should have used sashing. I wasn’t going to remake it though!

This block has been on my “to-do” list for quite a long time, but I just haven’t gotten around to trying it. I did find the error pretty quickly in the photo. I just re-sewed a 3″ section out of a queen sized top that I finished last week because I had 3 tiny half square triangles (1.5″) turned wrong. I just knew my eye would go directly to that error every time I looked at the quilt. But it’s fixed now and dropped off with a long arm quilter.

I love that block too. When my brother-in-law organized a quilt block collection for my sister’s 40the birthday, That was the block I made for her.
