Churn Dash

I’ve still got Churn Dash quilts on my mind. I drafted this one for Mom since I’d just sent her the GO 9 inch churn dash die for Maureen’s quilt.

Set blocks 3×4

Churn dash block is 9 inches (9.5 with seam allowances)

Framing strips are cut 1.5 inches and finish at 1 inch

1 inch inner border – cut 1.5

3 inch border – cut 3.5

Quilt is 41 x 52

Many years ago my SIL and I made a red/grey churn dash for our niece for graduation. I’ve always said I’m going to make another one but just never have – yet. I loved the block and have made individual ones to use in sampler quilts. I like the double sashing you have in this design.

One of my ufos is a churn dash with an autumn theme. I plan to set it on point, but need to get a design wall, so I can make sure all the different autumn prints get placed attractively. I also have to choose a lighter alternate block fabric for the inner part of the quilt. Decisions, decisions!
