Two machines

Having two sewing machines set up in my sewing room has long been a dream of mine and it’s been every bit as great as I imagined it would be. Today, I worked on assembling the green 5 star quilt on the Elna AND quilted the blue/green rectangle quilt on the Babylock Jane.

Did you notice I moved the Stella Two light next to my machine? I really like this light! I posted a coupon code for a $25 discount and free shipping in a previous post and that coupon code is good for a year they tell me so if you’re in the market for a new light I do recommend this one. I’ve refused compensation from the company so I don’t get anything if you order it but I’m very happy with mine.

While I was trying to avoid re-creating a stash here in FL, between my bargain buying and a slow migration of fabric from GA, I found the perfect flannel backing and a fabric that works for binding this one here. I love having this stuff on hand so that when I’m ready to sew, it’s all here! Aren’t those Dino’s cute?!

This simple rectangle quilt might just be my new favorite leftover quilt. Quick to piece, quick to quilt with straight lines following the piecing. I also have the binding already on and ready to stitch down tonight.

I too dream of two sewing machines set up at the same time. Maybe even a 3rd. Smile. Ambitious thinking on my part I guess.

    Enjoy.

I have often thought (wished ) of having two machine all set up–one for quilting and the other for piecing.
Love that Dino backing–so cute…hugs, Julierose

I agree, having more than one machine is a blessing. I actually have three, my newer Viking with zig-zag for mending, etc, my MegaQuilter for quilting and piecing and my vintage Singer 15-91 for piecing and machine binding. Sometimes I decide which one to use by the color of thread on them. I don’t feel too guilty, I sewed in a lot of corners and closets before getting to this stage of my life.

I set up 2 machines in my basement by my Quilting machine. It’s fun to decide which one to use on a sew day. Great choice for the backing. I have a Treadle upstairs for when I want to just play.

I too have 3 machines set up in a little 8’x10′ room. I have to think “up” for most of my storage, because horizontal space is practically non-existent now, what with my cutting table and ironing surface also taking their share of the room’s real estate.

    (Dragons, not dinos)

My little grandson would like the dinos on that quilt back. He’s almost four and just at that stage where little boys like dinos. The decorating theme in his room is dinos and his mommy found all kinds of neat dino things for it.

I have 2 machines in my sewing room too. One I keep a darning foot on for free motion quilting and a 1/4″ foot on the other for piecing. Sure is handy. Love your backs
