Using scraps

I’m in the process of assembling the RWB HeartStrings top and I’m already wondering how to use the leftovers. I’ve got a bunch of smaller bits and pieces of RWB fabrics along with leftover strips from other veteran quilts in a bin and last night I decided they’d be perfect for a string log cabin. Rather than trying to alternate or randomly place the red and blue strips in the individual blocks, I thought I’d make red and blue blocks and alternate them in rows.

Of course, it will be scrappy and the logs will be different sizes so it would look more like this one … only in RWB!

Of course, I could also use the above layout and cut logs with my Log Cabin GO die but for now, I think I’ll plan on using scraps!
