February’s results

Tops quilted – 4
Quilts completed (bound and labeled) – 3
Met my goal to work on string blocks and piece a backing each Tuesday. I’m up to 120 QAYG string blocks – one of our HeartStrings projects started in January.
Finished my first pair of socks and have the second one started (one sock done, the matching one in progress)
The above totals make me wonder what I did all month but traveling and having company ate into my quilting time as did my sock knitting but I had lots of fun so I’m happy.
January results
Not bad…..
Tops quilted = 6
Quilts bound and labeled = 7
No tops finished but the Twisted 9 patch is in progress, 22 pillowcases were made, and 72 QAYG blocks were pieced

Carrying over into 2010 I have
- 21 personal UFO’s
- 20 donated HeartStrings tops to quilt & finish
- 6 donated tops needing binding
December’s totals
A couple days early but since I’m out of town, I won’t get anything else done this month.
Tops finished– 4 (1 with the Mom’s help)
Tops quilted – 7
Quilts completed (bound and labeled) – 1
On Sunday, I did manage to piece a couple backs and two bindings made and sewn on quilts but they’re not stitched down yet so they’ll be finishes for next year.
UFO’s & new projects
As 2009 comes to a close, I’ve started looking at my database to evaluate my results. I track 5 major areas of my quilting.
- Tops quilted
- New quilts started
- UFO’s finished
- Stash used
- Quilts donated
For me, not all UFO’s are bad. Finished tops don’t bother me – I know they’ll get done eventually and I see them as a quick source of gift or donation quilts as I can quilt and bind them in a short period of time when they’re *needed*. The danger for me is having half pieced projects, those are the ones that when set aside never seem to get finished so for the last several years I don’t allow myself more than 1 or 2 projects in the piecing stage. Once I finish a top, I allow myself to start something new.
Of the 18 new quilts I’ve started this year:
- 6 are finished quilts
- 10 are finished tops
- # 17 is a hand piecing project (the Applecore started this month) that will be worked on over time
- #18 was started tonight from leftover strips from #16
And I quilted and finished 6 tops from last year so I consider this another successful year on the UFO front.
What do you track and how did you do with your UFO’s this year?
November’s totals
I wanted to accomplish a lot in November knowing that I’ll be traveling again in December so I’m happy with these results.

Tops quilted – 15 (12 quilted, 3 tied)
Quilts completed (bound and labeled) – 11
October’s Totals
In spite of traveling and illness, I’m happy with the progress made in October.
Tops pieced – 1
Tops quilted – 9 (7 quilted, 2 tied)
Quilts completed (bound and labeled) – 4
A summary of September’s progress
I haven’t gone back to my *to do* lists but since I am motivated by making progress and the organization of my blog makes it easy to track, I’ll sum up my results for September.
In my mind, my quilting has 3 milestones: a completed top, a quilted top, a completed quilt (bound & labeled).
September totals
- Tops completed = 1
- Tops quilted = 7
- Quilts completed = 6
This month I also tied somewhere between 15 and 20 quilts at the HeartStrings Maine sew-in.
