Autumn Quilts

Autumn Leaves
Autumn Geese
I was living in Florida when I started quilting and missed the colors of fall so each year I make an Autumn quilt.

I’m looking at patterns for this year’s quilt but haven’t yet picked one. I have the fabrics – fat quarters brought over a year ago that are just waiting for inspiration.

I thought I’d share 3 of my previous quilts.

Autumn Cabin was last year’s finish although the top had been made the year (2004) before that.

Autumn Leaves was designed in EQ5.

Autumn Geese was inspired by a picture in the first Nickel Quilts book. I don’t own the book but had seen the combination of flying geese and four patch blocks and thought it would suit my fabrics. This quilt was given to my sister in one of our family quilt exchanges.

  1. I really like the leaf one!I’ve designed an autumn leaf one in EQ5 too. Mine will have a forest green background – but I’ve promised myself that I won’t start it until all my UFO’s are done!

  2. I too love Autumn colors…I live in Kentucky so we sure do see the changes….can’t imagine a fall without them.Great quilts

  3. Mary, is the autumn cabin one picture missing? I only see two wonderful quilts in the webpage. Knowing how uncooperative blogger can be loading pictures, maybe one got dropped along the way? Can’t wait to see what you pick for this year’s fall entry!

  4. lovely quilts Mary, as usual…I love to see a quilt photo and use it as an inspiration as you did with the four patches and flying geese quilt-all wonderful !

  5. What great quilts Mary ! As a person with an autumn birthday, it’s my favorite time of year..*S* Both of the quilts are just beautiful..very comfortable looking.

  6. Just love the Autumn Geese! I have that Nickel Book and that particular pattern is bookmarked for future use – I think you just helped me make up my mind regarding the colours I’ll use. Lucky sister!

  7. Very cool! I too love autumn quilts & I get too see the changes! I think I like it so much because we did not really have seasons in Texas…. (I remember green leaves falling off the trees.)I “should” get back to my autuim nickel quilt… But I can say that about a lot of quilts!
