Finished up Mom’s quilt and am ready to ship this one and her basket quilt back to her. I’m not happy with my quilting on this one because;
- it’s too thready
- the quilting is too dense
- I don’t like the medium blue thread in the white squares.
Oh well, live and learn – good thing Mom is an easy to please *customer*.
I think you need to put it away for a few days and look at it again. I really like your quilting – I love dense quilting anyway! I think you will also be happy with it once some time has passed.
I can see what you mean Mary, but it looks very nice from here anyway.Working close to the quilt it looks more overwhelming to you than to anyone else.Been there, done that 🙂

I like it! The back is so visual! Think of all the quilting practice you got done on it! (Maybe you don’t need practice like I do!)
It may be just a bit dense but it is beautiful. I know I hate, hate, hate most of my quilts until I get some distance from them. Then the oops’s don’t seem near as traumatic! Besides, mom’s are the best! She’ll love it no matter what!
Oh my – you don’t like this? I think it’s marvelous! I can only hope to quilt this well someday. Thinner thread probably would have been better but hey – usually we are all much too hard on ourselves. I’m sure your mother will love it!

I think it turned out beautifully! I like dense quilting though. I can’t really see the blue thread on the white, but I can see why you might think that. Still, I love it!

I like it! I especially like the way you did the border — the little over and under ovals between the border and the rest — a nice filler I think.And I really like the leaves, but I understand what you mean about being too dense.Another learning experience!
well..it looks pretty good to me in these photos! I am sure your mum will like it! Let us know what your mum thinks when she gets it! fingers crossed…maybe it is one of those quilts you will grow to love once you haven’t seen it for awhile!your left over srcraps that were going to be rails looks really effective nowyou have cut them!

mary, i love this quilt. this is the type of quilting i love! lots of it. the quilt will still be here a 100 years from now. now that you’ve had a couple days away from it, how do you feel? if mom doesn’t like it, you can send it to me? hehehehepatti
This has me stuck on one of my quilts too. I used red over the bright floral and love it, but I can’t see the red going over the 30’s prints and white blocks…so now I sit stuck. I like the pattern. It is denser than I would normally quilt but very pretty and curves nicely.
I love it! That is definitely something I couldn’t do with my machine!
I think it looks beautiful! Your freehand leaves are so nice. I bet your Mom is going to love it. I find that I like the So Fine thread of John Flynn’s–it’s strong, but doesn’t show a lot of thread.
I really, really like it. Have you changed your mind yet? Of course, this is the type of quilting that I adore…
