More postcard experiments

I finished the binding on my first fall postcard and made another one trying the zigzag edge again using some of the tips I got from you all. As you can see it is much better than the 1st attempt.

I’m tempted to take out the FALL stitching on the first postcard because the 1st *L* is right against the binding – but I think I’m going to leave it. I have a 3rd one to finish tonight but won’t post it until it’s received.

So my question is – which edging do you prefer – the bound or zigzag? (Click on photo to enlarge)

  1. Both finishes are good. Another way to do it is to have an extra quarter inch or so on the top fabric then fuse/stick it down on the reverse side and stick on a card for the address, but I always forget until too late so end up doing a close zig-zag. Another person I know does a ‘pillowcase’ finish, though I have never tried that on a card myself her cards always look immaculate.

  2. Of the two I think I prefer the zigzag – especially now since you are happier with your second attempt. To me the binding looks a little dark on the first one – I notice it before I notice the middle. If the binding fabric had been lighter I’m sure I would have said I like that one better.Good for you to get into this craze. I’m determined to stay away from these myself.

  3. I agree with eveyone else that the zig-zag looks better and the binding is too heavy (even if you did use a lighter color). I have received one card with the technique mentioned by Anne. This card was beautiful but it looks like it would take a great deal of skill to master, I’m sticking with zig-zag.

  5. They’re both really nice Mary, but if I had to choose, I think I prefer the zig-zag. You’ve made a lovely job of them, just beautiful!*hugs*Tazzie🙂
