Another vet appointment

Chesty has always had what the vet in GA told me was probably a collapsing trachea, apparently common in small dogs. Typically, it has occurred with activity or pulling against his collar and leash but lately it’s gotten worse and he’s having episodes when he’s resting or even sleeping. We’ve been referred to the College of Veterinary Medicine at the university and our appointment is tomorrow.

Since the problem is intermittent, I taped one of his episodes this afternoon.

  1. Our new little fellow may have this as well. They tell us it may require surgery. Not sure if there are meds to try first. Yesterday he seizured for no apparent reason, so now we are watching for that as well. Nothing is certain, yet, just watching and observing. Best for Chesty.

  2. Poor little guy! I know of quite a few small dogs that do this periodically, but I’ve never heard one who sounded quite so much like a duck! It actually sounds like it is painful for him. I hope the vet can give him some relief!

  3. Thank you for posting the video about the episode. My little dog had been doing the same thing lately. Now that I’ve seen a possible cause, I will taking a trip to the vet. It may not be the same thing but at least I know its not just over excitement.
