I have things stacked all over the apartment, some waiting for the movers, some for us to cart over this weekend and I’ve still got plenty to do before the packers come on Monday. Right about now, I wished I’d left it all for them to do and just sorted and tossed as I unpack at the townhouse.
Am I the only one who lets my pins get dull before finally replacing them – what are they? All of $2-3? I’m treating myself to new pins – all these are getting tossed.
I let needles get dull … need not to do that! But I bought expensive ultra-fine pins and it was one of the best sewing investments I’ve made. They are fabulous! Slide in and out with no effort, and they don’t distort the fabric.
Your blog came up as my son (5yo) was walking into the room. He saw the picture of the pins and said “I don’t know what that is, but it sure is beautiful!” My son think flower pins are beautiful!!! I need to teach that boy how to sew! 🙂
You mean people throw pins out? LOL! I don’t hink I’ve ever thrown pins out! Usually they disappear and that is what finally makes me buy more. I am terrible with replacing that kind of stuff!
it’s hard to find good pins that are sharp and narrow…i hate fat pins!
Oh, Mary. You and I are in the same position. I’ve got a gauntlet of boxes, piles of things, and just a general disaster in the old place. My move is tomorrow. 🙂And I’m with Caryn. Usually they get bent or disappear. That’s when they get replaced. I’ve never even thought about them getting dull. I never have them that long.

Pins…I also have a bit of a problem here, I pull them out of my pin cushion and realize they are useless but what do I do, put them back in, always saying I must throw those out.
lol I had to giggle…I have a little section for dull pins on my pin cushion. What on Earth is our hesitation to just throwing them out right away?! 😉 Too funny.
My mother would have chores for us to do, and one was to take all the pins out of her pin cushion, throw away the bent ones and the ones that came out of new shirts, and then squeeze the cushion to find the hidden needles.
I should take your example and throw away mine too! I know quite a few of them are dull that’t for sure!
Funny how you posted the pictures of the pins… I’ve been telling myself for the last 3 weeks that I really need to get new ones because mine are sticking when I use them… (I have the flower pins for use on the design wall and the ultra fine ones for piecing.) It’s more about actually DOING it than knowing I need to.
I’m a fairly new quilter. I never thought about pins getting dull! Duh, of course they do! I need new pins!
