For better or worse, it’s done

I don’t feel confident in my ability to quilt into this applique with either a continuous line of quilting or without having unsightly starts and stops so I’m going to use buttons in the flowers and if I feel it needs more, I’ll hand embroider just enough detail to *tack* it down.

I need to keep reminding myself when I’m doing something like this that quilting is my hobby and my quilting ability is what it is …. I don’t represent my quilting as being professional and I don’t charge people for the quilting I do. I’m sure Maureen will be fine with the results.

  3. I admire what you do. I still haven’t mastered machine quilting at all, and my early results are truly cringe-worthy. from my perspective, you’re doing more than great.

  4. It’s beautiful, and Marureen will love it. You are way too hard on yourself…your skills are good, give yourself credit.

  5. Mary, your ability to quilt is amazing, don’t be hard yourself. You do a marvelous job, I admire all you do and accomplish. I’ve had an enjoyable week learning with my HQ Sixteen, I come here everyday just to see what you have done! Your work inspires me to do better…

  7. It’s lovely. I just read somewhere that it is a good idea to quilt <>inside<> the applique too because if you don’t, the applique will be higher than the rest of the quilt and will wear faster. Made sense to me for a bedside quilt, anyway.

  8. If I had 1/10th of your talent, I would be so happy! One day, after much practice, I hope to get as good as you. I would love to have a quilt quilted by you any day of the week. I’m just happy with my simple meanders all over the quilt.

  9. I think you did a great job on quilting that. It’s just beautiful and she will be very happy with it. Diane in Alaska

  11. I think that a button with some hand work in the applique will really bring the applique to life. That is how I would finish it too, if I were doing this one. I love the little designs that you did in the white areas. Beautiful work!

  12. I’ve just realised I have made this pattern and it is a UFO waiting for quilting. Mine is in different colours – beiges and pinks. So your discussion and photos have made me realise that I need to finish it. So now you have inspired me to try and do something with it. That has be to a positive…
