I wandered back upstairs late this afternoon and quilted this Ohio Star top. Pantograph is Surf’s Up. This is stay at home week #15 for the year and the 15th top quilted – I’m going to continue to try and hit my one top quilted for each week I’m not traveling but I won’t fret if I miss one.
Block close up – I like using a tan colored thread on these that have both light and dark fabrics. It tends to blend in with all of them without being too prominent.
I love the fussy cut star centers and cornerstones! The fabrics for this top were from a Connecting Thread kit that was on sale and since I didn’t want to make the pattern that came with it, I designed an Ohio Star quilt — I’ve posted brief instructions on the website.
You have the coolest imagination for what to do with quilt kits. But them providing nice coordinating fabrics helps with the process. Not enough for me, but you do really well.
Forgot to say congratulations on quilting number 15, but no pressure on what comes next for a while.
Beautiful quilt and quilting. I love how you alternated the blocks’ backgrounds. The cheddar is a pretty fabric and a nice contrast to the neutral.
I love this. Just wonderful as is all your work. Just want you to know that years ago had a radiation treatment to kill off one side of my thyroid. Had been on meds for years. Had been tested for years for diabetes. I have been on meds for that for 10 years. Doing fine but have also had a heart attack and am now doing well. Thyroid problems, diabetes and heart problems run in my family as well as brain tumors. Just keep sewing and spending time with your family. Thyroid surgery is most often very successful. You will be fine. Love sharing time with you on your site. Especially fun to see when we have stayed in the same hotels in Venice-how can anyone remember where they were by a cup of cappuccino but I did. I am going to keep following you and enjoying all your family time, your travels, Finn, and quilting. Hugs to you!

I love your repurposing of the kit. I remember your earlier posts about it. I like to do the same thing, and just finished up transforming a kit that was all HSTs to a different block design. Have yourself a good holiday weekend.
Oh, I love this! You did such nice work on this. I have a “thing” for pears so that black fabric is right up my alley!
