Up and down

My activity level goes up and down and after our trip, I crashed yesterday. It seems like life is getting back to normal and then I hit a wall and am not good for much for a few days at best. I decided I wasn’t up to cooking a holiday meal but I did manage to serve Keith  one of his favorites so he was happy – balsamic pork, cole slaw, and homemade sweet potato fries.

I also managed a little time in the sewing room and I’ve got my binding made and on the rail fence quilt and have started hand stitching it down. Maybe I can finish it up today – it’s a good activity for a low energy day.

What I didn’t do yesterday was take a walk. I’ve been looking at my miles walked and I’m probably going to fall about 500 miles short of my goal for the year. I’ve struggle to get back into a habit with my walks both because of the heat and the effect of the thyroid replacement hormone on my heart rate and I need to do a better job.

  1. When your body wants to rest, rest. You need that physical recuperation to be stronger and healthier. I deal with similar issues, and am always frustrated when I am not up to my full self. After all, it seriously cuts into quilting time. Feel stronger each day. D. Weeks

  2. You have had a very full year with all of the thyroid issues. Listen to your body. It just takes time.

  3. I’ve just had surgery two weeks ago and am amazed how tired I get early afternoon. I’m much older than you, but I didn’t expect this feeling of exhaustion. The doctor said to rest but to push myself a little each day. You’ve been through a great deal this year, so take the time to allow your body to heal.

  4. Hi Mary! I hope you are feeling better, or more like yourself. That is an impressive walking goal for the year. Of course you need to take care of your self and your heart in spite of a walking goal. {{Hugs}} Happy Happy Saturday! ~smile~ Roseanne
