Hat knitting season that is … I hope to get at least 2 done but maybe 4 for gifts … and maybe I’ll just keep knitting hats for a while and use up some of this yarn!
- Pattern – Barley – free on Ravelry
- Needles – pattern calls for US 6 and US 8 but I forgot to switch so this one will use US 6 only
- Yarn – Cascade 220 superwash
Pretty color!! I have never knit a hat but might give it a go. I have 3 knit scarves going right now. I am a slow learner when it comes to knitting so it takes a while. Would love to do the hats for grandkids so I better get a little faster. Your quilts are beautiful! Thanks for sharing!!
I am so happy that you just keep going if things aren’t perfect. That just means you know enough to understand what will happen as a result and can go on from there.

I love the Barley hat! I think I’ve made at least 4 of them. My favorite modification is a doubled brim, where you knit the brim twice as high, then knit the Hem together with the live stitches before moving on to the main part of the hat. It makes it extra squishy and warm around the ears (not as much a concern in FL, I imagine) and I think it stays on my head better. ☺️
