Hot dog I actually sewed today! I’ve got a lot of organizing and cleaning to do between the visit from the kids and Mom’s visit next week but after tidying up a little in the sewing room, I actually turned the sewing machine on and sewed a while.
These blocks were from earlier in the year … and while I usually don’t let myself take blocks down and start a new quilt for some reason I did with this one … maybe I wasn’t loving it?!

I worked on piecing some more blocks before Chris arrived for Christmas but I’d already decided I was going to add borders in some configuration. Today I decided that only one 4 inch finished border was going to work so I had even more blocks to make but I managed to finished them all. Now I just have to assemble the blocks into a top and add one border and this top will be done. Funny … I didn’t like this one so much which might explain why I set it aside but I’m loving it now!

I love it too. It’s very warm and rich looking.
That border made it sing!
It’s very pretty. I have one on my design wall I’m not crazy about, which is strange because generally I love the quilt I’m working on. It’s a kit hubby bought but directions weren’t clear and it caused problems. I know I’ll finish it but it won’t be a favorite.

The brown border looks great!! Very pretty!
Hi Mary! I love all the different fabrics you chose. It looks scrappy but cohesive. Sometimes taking a break from a project is just the ticket, because when you return to it you see it with a new eye. Sometimes we still have to bail on the project especially when no love is felt for it. I’m glad you found your enthusiasm for this quilt top as I think it’s a fun one. I can’t wait to see it completed! Happy New Year! ~smile~ Roseanne
The rich brown fabric you have chosen for the border is a perfect choice. It really brings those blocks to life. Well done on persevering with a quilt that wasn’t making your heart sing.
The border fabric really makes the blocks pop.
