2018 walking goal

I didn’t meet my walking goal this year but tracking my progress makes me more accountable and more likely to get out and walk. My goal is to average 10,000 steps per day and I fell short in part because of my health issues this year but I also find it challenging to get my steps in when I’ve got travel and family commitments to meet. I will try to do better in 2019!

Those steps translated into 1290 miles walked in 2018.

If you’re wondering how I’m able to track all my steps and miles … I wear my Apple Watch all the time unless I’m in the bed sleeping!

  1. Mary, that spreadsheet makes the organized person in my sing! Over 8000 steps a day is great – congratulations! Your year had challenges, so it is good to be kind to yourself about this. I wonder if you discounted the sick days what would that number be? Next year can only be better in every way. Happy New Year!

  2. Congratulations. This is by far the most relatable goal in my world. I know it is difficult and also know the health benefits. Keep up the good work!

  3. Mary I love the spreadsheets!!! I too am trying to walk more everyday. I started in 2016 with a fitbit and have kept on tracking my steps. I too had several health issues that messed with my walking, but I still got out there. Each year I have been getting more, but still not averaging 10,000 a day over the year. This year it was 9194, less than 2017 (9928). Oh well, it is time to restart for 2019! Let’s both head towards that 10,000 per day.
