Finished

The binding has been done for a few days and Mom’s been sitting under it but I stole it away for a quick photo and to wash it – since I don’t prewash my fabric, I like to toss the quilts in the wash when they’re done – and I love how they come out all cozy and crinkled!

It’s my 2nd UFO finish for the year – started in 2014. There are brief instructions on my website – Framed 9 Patches.

Keith caught us working in the sewing room this afternoon …

We were working on a small UFO of mine – I started making some half square triangles from a Charm Pack last year and then misplaced them. I wasn’t sure if I’d have enough of them for a baby quilt or if it would end up doll size but when I put them on the design wall, I decided I’d pull fabric from stash to make a few more blocks and then will put a border on it. I’ll donate it to Safe Harbor in GA when it’s done.

I don’t know if I’ll get it assembled before the end of the month but it’s one more project for our 2019 Precut Party! Did I tell you that February’s precut is fat quarters? What’s your favorite fat quarter pattern?!

  1. Wow, you and mom are getting so much done. Do you think she’d mind coming to visit me and do the same. Dolly would love keeping her company in the sewing room.

  2. I really like your framed 9 patch. You and your mom make quite a team and really accomplish so much together. It has been fun to see what the two of you have created in such a short time span. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Hi Mary! Oooh, I love seeing those on the design wall. Just a comment – maybe consider switching the direction of the second column? It would make a herringbone pattern and would be equally striking. I am enjoying you and mom working together so much! ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. Very sweet quilt. I’ve done several Hearts & Stars quilts with fat quarters. It’s a Buggy Barn pattern from many years ago. It’s easy to cut 3 fat quarters at a time.

  5. You and your mother have accomplished so much! I have enjoyed following your progress. Love both of the quilts. My favorite go to for fat quarters is the “Fat Quarter Style” book. I belong to a BOM group and we used this book last year. There were 12 of us and we each picked a different quilt to make each month.

  6. Awesome 9 patch quilt and thanks for the pattern. It’s been fun to watch what you and your mom are working on. Stay well and keep on quilting!

  7. Right now it’s Yellow Brick Road by Atkinson Designs. Love the framed 9-patch! Think I’ll have to dig in the fat quarter stash and throw one together!!

  8. Your framed nine-patch quilt is very pretty, and the half-squares will make a pretty one too! I love to see your mother smiling! —“Love”
