I confess

I’m failing at my NO Buy commitment. There’s been some online shopping since Mom left so it’s a good thing I gave away as much fabric as I did while she was here!

All the Ohio Star blocks are pieced for my February Precut Party quilt.

I didn’t feel like starting the sashing so I pulled out the bright squares Mom cut for me while she was here and started piecing them into 9 patch blocks … these will alternate with the butterfly blocks she appliquéd for me last year so at least I’m working on a UFO!

  1. I just picked up the UFO I started a couple/three years ago…made with the fabric in your second stack from the right! It’s a churn dash with contrasting snowballs on the outside corners. Pretty cute summer quilt.

  2. Hi Mary! Your Ohio Star blocks look great. And those bright squares look like fun to work on – rather mindless but you’re still accomplishing something. ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Oh, I love buying new fabric although it’s the last thing I need. Your Ohio Star blocks look so pretty. Wish I had your inspiration to sew. I just can’t seem to get in the mood but have plenty to do. I love looking at what you have accomplished! Thanks for sharing!

  4. I’m thinking that you will put that new fabric to good use at some point. I recently purchased two quilt kits from Craftsy. Haven’t cut into it yet. Have you had good luck with their fabric?

  5. Nice shopping! Confession is good for the soul.
I was super strong in January (didn’t buy anything), but have shopped twice this month.
We both just need to sew faster!

  6. I bought some of the same fabric, but I was disappointed that the four-yard packages I purchased for backings were all short by three inches. I won’t purchase yardage from BluPrint again.

  7. I really like your Ohio Star! Those centers, and your colors, seem perfect to me. Are you sure you need sashing? I love it the way it is. But yours always turn out great! And I know I’ll love your brights! Thanks for the inspiration!

  8. I am trying stick to sewing up my stash and scraps, but painfully, ”fell off the wagon”. Purchased batik fabrics and templates. I need to stay focused on my goal, sew the stash. Love the Ohio Star blocks. D. Weeks (dweeks4602@gmail.com)

  9. A quilter NOT buying fabric!!???? The best of intentions go right out the window when you spy a new fabric!!! I have almost given up declaring not to buy, Now I consider it rewarding myself like instead of candy 😉 We will never use it all up, just enjoy it!

  10. I don’t think I could commit to resist buying fabric, let alone deny myself. LOL As long as you use it, it’s all okay, lol. I would be very happy if I could just find someone to do the cutting for me.
    xx, Carol

  11. I just love the way you fussy cut the centers of the stars. Great use of that fabric. Have you ever watched The Quilted Cow’s Party in your PJ’s broadcast on facebook live? It’s every Wednesday at 7pm central time. Hard to resist getting something from them.
