Sashed

The sashing is done on the Ohio Star and now I just need to add two borders. I dislike sewing long skinny pieces of sashing so I sash my blocks individually.

Not sure why of all my sashing choices, I chose a fabric with a grid. It took extra time to cut the pieces carefully so the grid wouldn’t be wonky – not that I mind wonky but just not in my sashing.

I’m done sewing for the week. We have company coming this weekend so I’ll be tied up with them.

  1. I like this quilt and your method of sashing. I too don’t like sewing long skinny strips. I’ll definitely try your methods. I just finished a half log cabin quilt with your pattern. Very nice.

  4. I sew my sashing like you, hated those strips we used to do. Your quilt looks good, waiting for your borders.

  5. I usually sew my sashing like that too. It seems so much less likely to cause me problems. I also currently have a set of blocks that I’m adding the sashing to using this method. I hope to work on them again this weekend while it snows again.

  6. Love your quilt. I never would chose to use these fabrics. Well, they wouldn’t even find their way into my stash. But it’s gorgeous! Great job!

  9. Love the quilt and the sashing. The colors look so nice together. I do my sashing the same way. Much easier.
