Precut Party – March

Are you playing along with our 2019 Precut Party? I’ve decided that we need to continue this next year … and on and on! I’m making progress using my precuts but I won’t come close to using them all up.

Stephanie announced that the precut for March is Jelly Rolls! I’ve been waiting for this one because I have a ton of them. I know that the first top I make for March will be from these RWB strips but I’m still debating what to make.

One of the fun things about playing in our precuts is that we see what everyone else is making or considering and we get lots of ideas. In January I decided I was actually going to be organized about this and when someone posted something I thought I might want to make, I’d save it. For a long time the iPad didn’t have a file system so I was thrilled when Apple added it and I use it all the time. I’ve got a folder for the Precut Party and subfolders to file all the ideas I find.

I’ve spent some time looking at my Jelly Roll file today along with my own website and I thought I’d share a few ideas from my website.

Boxed Squares is made from one Jelly Roll

My Plus2 quilt used a background fabric along with a Jelly Roll.

My Windmill quilt could be made in RWB but I just finished that top not so long ago so I probably won’t make it again at this time.

Rectangles is a possibility too ….

There are lots of other ideas on my website so feel free to look around.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing so many patterns with us. The pattern I am going to make is your windmills. I belong to a patriotic women”s organization and this quilt will be a gift to a friend who is our regent.
I enjoy your blog and all that you do.

  2. Have fun with those Jelly Rolls!! Guess what? I don’t have a single one. I have NEVER purchased a Jelly Roll!!! Can you believe it? Well, it’s true (and I’ve only bought ONE charm pack.)

  3. I’m going to put borders on my Beaded Lantern ufo and then do the Step Ladder quilt from Jorden Fabrics.

  4. I’m trying out the Sparkling Gemstones pattern in Pam and Nicky Lintott’s Jelly Roll Quilts book, using a Jane Sassaman jelly roll. It was a challenge to decide which pattern would best showcase the larger scale prints in her fabrics. There were only 24 strips in the jelly roll, and 4 of them didn’t really blend in with the others, so it will be a smallish quilt. Enjoying the Precut Party ideas as a way to motivate me to use up some of my stash. Thanks Mary for sharing this with your readers.
