I can tell I’m going to have to set some goals for my knitting – the turquoise blanket is done … or at least the knitting is done since I haven’t woven in the ends yet but I did pull yarn today and started crocheting a new afghan. It’s going much quicker and I’ve forgotten how much I like this Ripple pattern.

I’m using Caron Simply Soft yarn, it feels soft, it’s fairly inexpensive and holds up well. I’ve knit blankets for both Rae and Mo and made a number of donation blankets from it over the years.
The only negative I can see is that as much as I hate weaving ends in… Maybe I should have chosen a pattern with fewer ends to weave!!!
Gorgeous colors! Crochet is one thing I have never learned, but I often sleep under a crocheted blanket at night when I leave our bed for the couch due to Dh snoring. I quilt. I knitted when I was younger living in a cold climate. I needlepoint. I love what Mary is crocheting now. It is beautiful.
Love the color and the pattern. I made a Ripple one years ago with many different colors. It turned out wonderful but took forever weaving in the ends. I am crocheting a baby blanket now using the blanket stitch for the first time. I really like the look of it and I am stopping every now and then and weaving in the ends. Hopefully then when I am done with it I won’t have as many ends to do.
I don’t like weaving in ends either. So I am enjoying the self striping yarns that are available. When they first came out, they were mostly found in the more expensive yarns, but the more economical brands are seeing the benefit! And then if you catch them on sale, it’s better yet! The width of the band of color varies, which adds interest to the project.
This is a beautiful blanket. I follow Attic24 on her blog and maybe next year I will make a blanket with her. She has a lovely blog and I suggest you read some of her daily’s. I especially like her colors. I used to crochet and made tons of blankets, now I’m just quilting them. But I am getting inspired by her and you to do more crocheting.
Simply Soft is a wonderful yarn. I recommend it to all my knitting friends.
Congrats on the knit finish! It sure is beautiful! I love your Ripple Afghan. I have made several, a long time ago before I got so big into quilting. I used to hold the tails of the yarn close to the project and just crochet over them. No weaving needed. It was a trick my grandmother taught me.
Have you considered carry the yarn along the side? Especially if you’re planning to add a border. The Moogly blog has some hints:
