Memorial Day

It’s great to have a long weekend to relax at home but it’s important to take time out and remember those that have served.

We biked and swam and cooked out with neighbors … I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend too! Tomorrow I’ll be back to work in the sewing room.

  1. I actually miss the annual Memorial Day programs of the past. As a kid my Girl Scout troop and high school band was always involved, and my dad was always involved as a VFW member. As an adult the small town we lived in (until recent years) always had a nice little program and got the school kids involved. But we live in a larger community now, and we haven’t gone to any of the Memorial Day activities as we don’t have anyone buried in this local cemetery. We did visit the cemetery where my husband’s family is buried a couple of weeks ago. And I’m hoping to go back to Fort Snelling to see my grandparents graves next time I’m in Minneapolis. I haven’t been there in years.

  2. It is nice to have a long weekend. We spent a day with family, a day gardening and a day to relax. And of course we also put our flag out. My husband is a Vietnam veteran so those special holidays of remembrance are very important to us. Sounds like you had a great weekend. I am also hitting the sewing room today. And a trip to the yarn store needs to be done so I can finally finish the crocheted baby blanket. I am on the home stretch. Have a good day!!!
