Decision time

I made a few more kite blocks tonight and it’s decision time.

My inspiration is this vintage quilt I found on eBay and shared on the blog about a year ago. Took me long enough didn’t it?!

I’m not going as big with my sashing and I’ll have fewer blocks – I’ll need 5 more before I start assembling and this is the plan.

Quilt size – 47.5 x 58

Block size is 8 inches finished (8.5 inches with seam allowances)

Blocks set 4 x 5

Sashing cut 3 inches

Squares (or strips) for the 4 patches cornerstones are cut 1.75 inches

Border cut 4.5 inches

  1. Hi Mary! Love this whole quilt top possibility and wonder along with Peg. What color will you use for sashing? This makes me want to jump right out and slowly make one, too. I like slow projects now and then – thanks for sharing all the details. So each little quarter ended up being 4.5″ I would gather. I have to PIN this one right away. ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. Excited to see this one when finished. I love the one on the bed with the sashing. I don’t think I have ever seen such big sashing but it looks good on that one.
