Quilted

This was the top that I’d planned to get done yesterday before the storms rolled in but getting it quilted today gets me started on meeting August’s goals. Today I got in the sewing room earlier and finished just 15 minutes before the thunder started!

My Strips and Strings Log Cabin top quilted with Freehand Baptist Fans.

Instructions for piecing the top can be found on my website and if you’re curious how I quilt the freehand Baptist Fans, I’ve posted information about them here.

  1. Wow! This is yet another spectacular quilt you’ve turned out, Mary! I LOVE Log Cabins (I just made 3 for Christmas presents) & Baptists Fan is my all-time favorite quilting pattern. This one is a keeper, girl!

  2. Oh my gosh I actually caught my breath at my first look at this finish. I just think this is one of the prettiest quilts I ever saw. I’m not kidding. The fabric and piecing is great but those fans and the loft makes it a jaw dropping piece.

  3. Mary, what is it about storms that makes you leave your sewing room? Just curious. I’m a storm-lover since childhood, and 13 years in exile in California made me even more appreciative of them than before!

  4. That is a beautiful quilt. You did such a good job with the Baptist fans. I really like that pattern and you did a wonderful job freehanding them.

  5. Really beautiful and the fans quilting makes it perfect! Did you use jelly rolls for this plus yardage or all yardage? I have several jelly rolls I need to use up. I know there is a log cabin pattern using jelly rolls, I just need to find it again.
