Keith and I were talking about how we didn’t do anything “new” this trip but we’re both OK with that. We visited all the places we usually go, which are all the places his dad took us on our first trip to Maine years ago. We feel his dad’s presence when we’re here in Portland.
Today we went out to Cape Elizabeth and Two Lights State Park. I love sitting on the rocks by the ocean and of course, there was a lobster roll for lunch!
We’re ready to go home but happy we’re coming back in April.
Comforting is the companionship of memories of those you have loved and the things you did together!
Such a lovely place. In the past couple of years Terry lost his father and his sister. He has been pondering death a lot lately with question of what happens after we die. It’s good to be in a place that you have shared with one who has passed. A little hard too.

Do you love just the sight and sound of the waves coming in to the beach? I do. I find the experience mesmerizing, calming, soothing. I used to take books or hand-sewing projects to the beach to pass the time, but invariably left at the end of the day without having opened the book or sewn a stitch. It’s good therapy for busy people.
My only visit to Maine was about 17 years ago, but it was so beautiful that I know I want to go back. We stayed at Sebasco Harbor and it was so relaxing to hear the waves through my open windows at night. We also spent time in Freeport and at a nearby state park beach area but I can’t remember the name. I admit to eating a lot of lobster rolls and blueberries that week.
Beautiful, beautiful!! I love the ocean anywhere. I grew up in San Diego and was at the ocean or on it a lot. I love the smell, the sound, the birds everything. Now I live a few hours away and miss it. Looks like you had a great time in a beautiful place.
I just discovered your blog today, and while taking a break from the sewing machine, thought I’d take a little scroll through your archived posts. I was surprised when this post popped up! I graduated from Cape Elizabeth HS and worked summers at the concession stand at Two Lights State Park. That was a lot of years ago!
