Something new!

Mom has finished all the work on her list and I’ve quilted 6 of 7 of her tops so after loading the last queen size top today for quilting next week … we both started playing.

First, Mom liked one of my Jelly Roll quilts so I pulled up the easy instructions from the web – Easy Jelly Roll Bento Box and we looked through my Jelly Rolls for one she liked and she started sewing.

After I had her set up up I debated what I should work on and decided I’d play with my Hunters Star die – Mom wants to try this one too but I knew I needed to figure it out before showing her how to use it.

Both quilts are going to be lap size, just 12 inch blocks set 3 x 4 with a border or two.

  1. Our guild has been making the Bento Box blocks for a future Quilt of Valor. It’s a fun one and I love the pretty colors your mom is using.

  2. I love hearing about you and Mom’s quilting retreats! So wonderful you share such a wonderful craft!

  3. Love them both the color combos are great. The Hunters Star is drawing me to it both in color and pattern.

  4. Hi Mary! I love that you two are playing. OMG – I adore those Hunter Star blocks. That is one of my favorite blocks, and the fabrics you chose is just stunning. Ooh-la-la! I’m going to have to get a die cutter just for the perfection of making the blocks. WOW! Have fun you two! ~smile~ Roseanne

  5. I am not surprised your Mom has finished everything on her list. She is amazing! You both are and I love the way you work so well together. Both of those quilts are so nice but I especially like the hunters star. That is one I have wanted to do for a long time. Sure wish I had a die cutter to make it easier.

  6. I have that Hunters Star die set and haven’t used it yet, so I’m eager to hear how you’re liking it. So far, so good! I like the bento box patter a lot, too. Must get my sewing for others out of the way so I can play, too!
