My end of the year list

With less than 7 weeks left in the year, I’m thinking about what I want to accomplish/finish up before 2019 ends.

First on the list – I’m going to make a little rectangle top with the leftover jelly roll strips from Mom’s Bento Box.

Next – Use one of my new dies from Blue Wren to make a RWB hourglass top. I drafted this one a while back but it uses 4 inch finished quarter square triangles.

My new die is a 6 inch block so I redrafted it. This one will be 54 x 72 and the hourglass blocks will be set 9×12.

Also on the list …

  • Quilting 4 tops
  • finishing the ripple blanket
  • knitting hats
  • piecing one more top (I’ve not decided what)
  • Stitching the last wool felt stocking

What do you plan to finish up this year?!

  1. I have so many UFOs & WIPs it isn’t even funny but what I just have to start feeling better so I can get done is the Jelly Roll Race (yep, jut a plain ol’ JRR again) to donate to the Y’s auction. Hold a good thought for me! I’ve decided 2020 may be all WIPs & UFOs finishes all year long! Wish me luck with THAT resolution!

  2. I really need to finish this top I’m working on now and long arm 6 quilts. I don’t know if I’ll get them done in time for Christmas but I’ll try. We are out of town until December 2 and no tree or decorations are out, but I’m still going to try and get them finished.

  3. I too have made up the year end list and started populating the 2020 list with things that can’t realistically get done by this year’s end. Had not heard of Blue Wren before so have to check them out!

  4. For the remainder of 2019: I have 1 bed quilt that needs to be quilted and bound. I have 3 charity quilts that need bindings, 2 charity quilts still in blocks-finish/quilt/bind. I have 2 bedsize quilts for Christmas gifts yet to be started and 1 more charity quilt I want to at least get the top pieced.

I think that will take me to Jan 1 🙂

  5. I just finished a quilt for a grandson and I am now working on a moose quilt for my daughter’s cabin. I am hoping to get it put together by the end of the month. I wish I could accomplish as much as you but other things always get in the way. I need to take a trip for a few days with just my sewing machine. Maybe then I would accomplish more. Have fun creating!!

  6. I’m making coordinating dresses for my 4 littlest granddaughters, for a photo shoot over Thanksgiving weekend. In December, I plan to make 4 quilted stockings for the 3 youngest, along with one for one of the daughters-in-law. There are several Christmas quilts I’d like to make — why do they all show up NOW??? Instead, I’ll start them next year, and spend whatever time I have working of the (several!) UFOs already under way.

  7. I’ve begun my list for next year as well. At my local quilt shop the owner did a PHD Challenge this year. We could list up to 12 Projects Half Done on a card. As we finish those PHDs we must show them, and they check each off our list. At the end of the year we receive $5 for each completed PHD on a shop gift certificate. I have finished 10 of the 12 on my list, so that pleases me.
