I finished the binding on the Hexagon Flowers and 9 patch quilt last night. This is my oldest UFO and the 15th UFO finish for the year so I’ve exceeded my goal of finishing 12 UFOs this year. The hexagon flowers are English paper pieced and appliquéd on the background squares. They were made years ago but it wasn’t until this year that I decided on a setting and pieced the top during our Precut Party (shapes).
I also made good progress on assembling the hourglass top, pieced another binding and got it machine stitched and ready for me to hand stitch it down, and started a new top… usually I try not to start a new piecing project until the one I’m working on is a finished top but November’s precut is charm squares and I haven’t made a top this month so I thought I’d at least get it started before November ended!
The pattern is called Chandelier Quilt and you can do a google search to see a lot of variations. I’m sure I have the book here somewhere but it’s not worth searching it out. It’s an easy block to piece and I’m using 2 charm packs.
I am still taking time out from sewing to bike ride with Keith and sit on my porch. It’s been a great holiday week for us, lots of time together, time outside, and for me, time in my sewing room!

Mary, It looks like you are going full steam ahead regarding quilting. I decided to not quilt as many as I had originally planned. We’ve been in Texas since October 23 and hopefully will be home Monday or Tuesday, we are campers. Traffic here on highway 30 in Arkansas is at a major stand still right now. I so look forward to sitting and quilting in my own little room. I love to quilt!

Oh, I love you little pink quilt… those 9-patches are the perfect alternate block for your darling little flowers! How big is that quilt? I also love your new blocks… the pattern I have for that block calls for either fat 1/8’s or FQs, I think. It’s a great block… alone or as an alternate. I can’t wait to see it all done. And WTG on out-pacing your UFO goal! You’re an inspiration to us all!

A week like this is good for the soul and for the body. I’ve been seeing the Chandelier blocks online lately and the impact is wonderful in the quilts. Your pink quilt is especially sweet and “girly”. I’m sure it feels great having used those blocks finally in a finished project.
Your quilt is beautiful! Love the appliqué flowers on it. I have seen a chandelier quilt and love them. It is also on my list of quilts to make. A stay at home retreat is great. You have time for each other and your own things too. I prefer that these days to flying or driving long distances. As long as my husband can play golf he is happy. And it gives me sewing time.
