I’m so grateful that Chris makes so much effort to spend time with us and brings the girls. It’s not easy either, it’s a 7-8 hour drive each way. At Christmas, Becky and both girls came with him, in November it was Chris and Mo, and this weekend it was Chris and Rae. She’s growing up so fast!
I decided she was old enough to try some sewing (She’s 7) and I thought we’d start with something fairly easy by hand.
I asked her yesterday if she want to try it and she was very enthusiastic and did a great job. We didn’t finish but we got about halfway done and will work on it on her next visit.
Since I couldn’t sleep, I spent a couple hours in the sewing room (between 1:30 and 3:30 am) working on the map quilt. Chris has”claimed” it and I’m happy to make yet another quilt for him but I’ve warned him, it will be at least a year before it’s finished and given to him.
Hi again, Mary! I just adore this photo of Rae. These times together are just priceless and she’ll always remember her first project. I’ll bet she’ll still have it when she’s a mom herself and decide that it’s time to show her daughter or niece or someone special how she made this. ~smile~ Roseanne

It is great that your son makes the trip with the kids when possible. My grandkids live only an hour away and I don’t see them any more often than you do yours. That’s a fun craft and hopefully will foster a love of sewing in Rae. So far neither of my granddaughters has shown any interest but maybe someday they will.
Rae has turned into a young lady – seemingly overnight. I’m thrilled that Chris and Becky share time and photos with you and Keith. Family ties are so important.
Rae is adorable, and so glad she is enthused about sewing. I wonder where you found the stitchery project. My grands and great grands live far away, but I am mentoring a little 7 year old who has started sewing squares by machine with my supervision and my running the pedal. Rae loves working on crafts with her Dad and with me and she really enjoyed this. We’ll finish it up next trip. I bought this one from Amazon.

I see Chris’ girls more often than Adam’s two but I am grateful we’re closer since the move to Tampa … being in driving distance was one reason I chose Tampa when we were looking to move 4 years ago.
